Born and raised in Paterson, NJ, Cassandra D. Johnson gravitated to acting at an early age, but temporarily forsook the arts in favor of a more "practical" career path. Cassandra graduated from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications with a concentration in Public Relations. While in college she was involved in a number of productions, namely "Sacred Places," "One Monkey Don't Stop No Show," and "A Soldier's Play."
After graduation, Cassandra moved back to NJ to start her career with a promotional company, but the thrill of the stage kept calling; there was no happiness/fulfillment while working in corporate America. Cassandra studied with the Action Theatre Conservatory in the evenings after work to hone her craft. In four years, she was able to dedicate more of her time towards acting after the company she worked for closed its doors.
Having studied with both the Action Theatre Conservatory and The Negro Ensemble Company, Cassandra has been working in theatre and most recently, film and plus modeling. Theatre credits include the roles of Sabrina Renee Jones-Donat in "Til Death Do Us Part," Sheila Laurence in "Die Laughing," and principal and ensemble roles in Eve Ensler's, "The Vagina Monologues." Film credits include the role of Mahogany in Tony Clomax's 12 Steps to Recovery, Juanita McCloud in the feature film, "Rough Edges," and the role of Mom in "A Brothers Tale." Cassandra has worked on modeling campaigns for LaDan's Closet and she was featured in the January/February double issue of Belle-Noir Magazine. She is excited about current and upcoming projects. Stay tuned for updates!
